West Ham are reportedly preparing a fresh bid for Chelsea's Demba Ba in January.

The club's co-owner David Sullivan has made a personal appeal to the former Hammers forward to return to Upton Park, according to The Sun.

Sullivan is said to have spent an hour on the phone with Ba on the last day of the summer transfer window to try to persude him to return to East London.

However, Ba, 28, is understood to have only wanted to play for a club in the Champions League such as Arsenal.

He is now third-choice striker under Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
