Awkward! Norwich win stuns chief executive David McNally, days after he talked of sacking Chris Hughton
Norwich chief executive David McNally was left looking totally stunned by Sunday’s win over Tottenham, but was it joy or despair?

McNally admitted last week the struggling Canaries were considering potential replacements for boss Chris Hughton should the club get sucked further into relegation trouble with some reports suggesting a change would be made if the hosts lost today.
But a second-half goal from Robert Snodgrass earned Norwich a 1-0 win over Spurs and three points which moved them four points clear of danger, and possibly saved Hughton’s job.
McNally’s reaction? Well, TV footage immediately after the final whistle showed the Carrow Road supremo with a hand over his face looking like a man who’d just realised he’d left the oven on – or perhaps a man who’d signed off on a five-year deal for a new manager before realising he didn’t actually need one any more. Awkward.
